After cruising around the streets of Nederland at 2 AM, I drove by the Roundabout......it looked pretty spooky in the darkness, with the Blue Light and all!
I finally drove down the last street in town and found where the action was! In the Ice Sculpture Tent....of all places!
There was a group of five or six that was completely awed by the Loch Ned Mermaid.
After just standing around and getting completely inspired, several of us attempted to do some sculpting on our own.....
Later on, the next day, there was a lot more action at the tent.
Kids and families got into the act, too.....
By the last day of the Festival, the Loch Ned Mermaid was finally finished, complete with New Snow Sign!
The Igloo people modified their basic igloo design and entered the result in the Contest.....they got 2nd place!
But that was all days later......
Late that night, the tent was pretty spooky.....especially when the 40 mile an hour wind was blowing like a madman! Tim and I stayed there til the wind stopped and we were almost through with our Grandpa in the coffin sculpture. But, That wasn't until about 4:30 in the norning, when we finally called it quits for the night.......
we were pretty beat by that time, and as I had a tour in about four hours, we decided to finish up the next night. but we sure wailed on the ice for a while.....listening to "Dead and Dying....the Corornor's Race" at full blast.
Party with a Dead Man!!
After getting a couple hours sleep, it was on to the first daylight Tour of the Festival.....
(For those interested.......Tim and I won Third Place with "Grandpa inna Box"!....)
